Hidden Rainbow / Orb

Manufacturer: | Lava Lite |

Years Made: | 2002-2004 |
Original MSRP: | $29 |
Bulb used: | 12V 10W MR11 Halogen |
The Hidden Rainbow is an obscure model not know by many collectors. It was only available online for a very short time. It features a similar setup to most fiber optic lamps with a halogen bulb underneath a color wheel. Instead of a fiber spray it uses a frosted glass globe. It may have also been sold as the “Orb” as indicated on the box. These lamps were some of the early strange things Lava Lite had produced in China.
These seem to have been sold online at a later point after it’s original release as unbranded mood lighting.
The base is shaped similar to an Aristocrat or Century, but it is not shaped correctly to hold a globe.

A similar model called the “Lunar Rocket Lamp” was also sold by Lumisource which makes it seem like Lava Lite sold off its left over stock to other companies after it moved manufacturing over to China. These were likely sold like this since they could not sell these as lava lamps.

7000 | Brass base. Spinning lampshade with various shapes. |
There are three Kaleidolites. Two of them are this style, with either a plastic or a glass globe. One contains a black cardboard cylinder with the patterns cut out (which may have had a matching top cover) and has five candelabra sockets at various heights, each containing a different color of random-blink Christmas bulb. The effect would be pretty showy. The other contains a single bulb and a motion lamp spinner, and a lack of venting might have made for lackluster performance. It features a Consort style base, but it was modified with a raised bulb socket and an arm to hold a spinning plastic shade. The shade has a fan at the top to catch the rising heat from the bulb to spin the shade. The shade is covered by a glass globe for the patterns to project on to.

The shortly produced Magma Color Fountain was only around briefly. Maybe one or two years. These were pulled from the shelves due to them filling with foam after being ran. They used the same formula used in Wave Machines which were not intended to be churned up by a pump over and over.
Silver Spinner

Years Made: | Unknown. Probably 1990ish |
Original MSRP: | $15.95 |
Bulb used: | T7 15W |

7700 | Silver base with white glass globe |
The silver spinner is a modern take on the Kaleidolite featuring a base that more closely resembles a Wizard base. It features the same technology that spins a shade with decorative shapes around a lightbulb that projects onto a glass globe.
